Chi Le Song
'Chi le Song' is a classic Chinese folk ballad from the Northern Dynasties period, depicting the vast landscapes and nomadic life of the Chile Plains. Arranged for solo Guzheng by Mengdie Ji, this rendition reimagines the ancient melody through the instrument’s resonant tones and intricate techniques. The arrangement interweaves traditional pentatonic motifs with contemporary phrasing, evoking the vast grasslands while showcasing the guzheng’s expressive range. A bridge between heritage and innovation, this piece breathes new life into a timeless pastoral ode.

Lingnan is a geographical area in the south of China that includescities around the Pearl River Delta. Nostalgia of Lingnan is a mixed chamber work presenting the sentimental feeling of my hometown, Canton. This piece also attempts to explore the prospects of integrating traditional Cantonese musical elements with contemporary writing. This piece is divided into two movements. Each
movement has a descriptive title that presents its individual characters.
